John Bottrell is a respiratory therapist and has lived with asthma for most of his life. He was first diagnosed in 1972 when he was just two years old. While his asthma was poorly controlled for much of his childhood, thanks to advancements in asthma research and medicine he has been able to obtain good asthma control as an adult.
John loves teaching and learning about history, and is an avid writer. In 2007, he started a blog to share insights from his profession, and also runs another blog where he explores the historical context of various respiratory conditions. He works as a freelance writer for various online health communities about asthma and COPD.
John lives in Ludington, Michigan, close to Lake Michigan. During the summer you’ll often see him with his kids at the beach. During the winter you may see him with his kids sledding on the hills near the lake.
